The technique of sub-graft ing is widely known in the world of citrus, was one of the main techni ques used to save the orchards in the decades of the thirties and forties when the citrus tristeza (VTC) almost ended with the citrus world.
The sub-graft ing is also used in cases of vascular problems such as Sudden Death disease in the Brazilian citrus orchards; also it can be used in case of incompatibilities with rootstocks. Some plant characteristics of the rootstock, for example, the drought resistance of the Rangpur Lime will be added if sub grafted on Cleopatra or Citrumelo Swingle or the increasing of internal fruit and reducing alternate bearing if sub grafted with Citrumelo Swingle.
We have an extensive experience in application and development of plants with this technique, saving thousands of trees with Sudden Death of Citrus in São Paulo State.
